I just wrote something on my blog about the great global warming swindle too and made a search on blogs to see whoelse has mentioned it already and you where the only one! Have you seen it? Well, I don't know what your opinion to all this global warming issue is, but I would like to read more about what do you think about this film.
As a big fan of “An INconvenient Truth”, I felt quite disarmed after that one … loads of question marks on the whole issue … you don't know whom to believe anymore!
I have seen both films, and I am a great fan of Al Gore, but the science of the great global warming swindle, I felt, was far more sound, making much more sense of the data in Gore's film as well. It also fits the facts as I have come to see them, regarding the cause of globalism, in repressing the development of the third world and also the facts about the ENTIRE SOLAR SYSTEM increasing in energy. Yep, Mars, Venus, Saturn, etc. are all getting warmer as the Sun—and its encompasing environment we know as the inner solar-system—increases its own energy in a record series of activities such as CMEs (Coronal mass ejections) etc. No, mankind is not the culprit of Sol-warming, but science is so very easily distorted for the gains of power.
Thank you so much for your reply! I agree completely with what you said here. There are however things we should not neglect: pollution, energy waste, consumerism … etc must continue to be fought !
yes, certainly, but it is important to have a clear understanding of what and why we are fighting, lest it be twisted for some purpose we do not wish to fight for.
love your discussions! yeah, my take is, global warming or otherwise, alernative energy sources should be funded some more. however, it looks like there are more money being spent on pro/anti global warming conventions and propaganda rather than financing alternative technology (e.g. nanotech) research. ah well.
Being shaken out of a “dogmatic slumber” is always refreshing, and indeed it was here too. Great link, Joel!
Now, do we buy it? Well, in line with my increasing tendency to historicize/psychologize everything, I was really struck by the underlying question of “Why?”, that is why have everyone jumped on this careousel? The answer provided in the documentary: because it provides an opportunity for Gen X to oppose capitalism, the US, Bush, and ultimately development itself, thus enabling them to retreive this long lost identity and identification with a Cause, an Idea, that they're parents of course had so abundantly. But the real Inconvenient Truth is of course that this would have us return to scraping the earth and having 40-year life spans, and putting the developing world right where they are now, never anything beyond that.
So if this is true, then it's very interesting. Even more so if Al Gore's central argument from correlation to causation is fundamentally flawed as is argued. That's a more a clear-cut issue, of course.

Yep, I live for that feeling of exploring new ground. Good points.
